Assistant Professor Emily Bouck is currently serving as the President-Elect (2009) and President (2010) for the Council for Exceptional Children Division on Autism and Developmental Disabilities (DADD). Following a national election, Associate Professor Teresa Taber Doughty was elected as Vice President (2009) and President-Elect (2010). Both will complete 4-year terms as leaders in the DADD.
Professors Bouck and Doughty were awarded $780,000 from the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP/USDOE) to train twelve doctoral students for leadership positions in special education over the next four years (2009-2013).
Sarah Templin, Clinical Instructor in special education, received the 2009 Teaching Award from the Department of Educational Studies and Purdue’s College of Education. She was also the recipient of the Purdue University Murphy Teaching Award. This fall, she was inducted into the Purdue Teaching Academy whose members represent recognized outstanding scholar-teachers.
Professor Sydney Zentall just completed her third book to be published by Sage entitled “Characteristics of Mild Exceptionalities” and is a keynote speaker at the National CHADD conference 2009 in Ohio.
Professor Lyle Lloyd has a contract with the Greater Lafayette Area Special Services (GLASS) to provide Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) assistance in schools.
