Application Information

To apply to the Special Education Program:

  1. Graduate School Application: https://app.applyyourself.com/?id=purduegrad (Also see information on Cost and Facilities)
  2. GRE general test scores are required of all doctoral applicants. Master's applicants are required to submit GRE general test scores if their bachelor's degree grade point average is less than 3.00 on a 4.00 scale.

As you prepare your application, it is important to understand the admission policies and procedures of the Department and the Graduate School. The review procedure for an applicant to a graduate degree program is a two-step process and approximately four months are required to process an application after it is received.

  • It will be evaluated by the Special Education program area. At this time further documentation of your academic background may be requested. Students who graduated from a foreign institution of higher education or from a non-accredited college or university in the United States, whose native language is not English, must submit the results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
  • It then will be evaluated by the Department of Educational Studies and then the Graduate School of the University. Official notification of admission may only be issued by the Graduate School; no other information concerning the processing of your application may be considered official. Notification of admission from the Graduate School indicates that you may register for classes.
