I am married to Olynn and have four children, ages 41, 38, 19, and 17, and five adorable grandchildren. (The children are of course also adorable.) Olynn (who herself takes a back seat to no one in the adorability quotient) might wish me to say that I was married once before, in case the gap in the children's ages has caught your attention. Here they are in order. Amy, who started her professional career as a French teacher but is now a middle school counselor, is married to Clint and is the mother of Jack and Elizabeth and Sam, three of my darling grandkids. Kerry, currently building a distinguished career (and having made partner!) at an excellent law firm, is married to Hope, the mother of my other two adorable grandkids, Katelyn and Erin. Brendan is a freshman at Birmingham Southern College, where he is studying music. At least, I hope he's studying. He loves piano, where he is quite good, the saxophone (also quite good), and pretty much anything to do with music. His other enthusiasms include drama and diving, a sport which itself does not lack for drama. Last, but, Lord knows, by no means least, is Allynn, who loves swimming and dancing and volleyball and reading and arranging things, especially her daddy's life. She is a junior at West Lafayette Junior/Senior High School. She plays the piano, well but grudgingly, and the flute and piccolo (her real instrumental passions). Allynn is also in the band program at West Side. If I had to specify her main passion, however, it is dancing. She has taken dance lessons since she could walk, and is on the dance team at West Lafayette, and very active in several dance troupes in our town, as a dancer, teacher, and choreographer.
Olynn works at J. P. Morgan Chase bank. She and I met in a choir, and music has always been central in our lives. Most of our friends came into our lives through music. She plays the piano, and helped Brendan and Allynn with their piano lessons until they passed her. I play my stereo system, and she helps me acquire records and compact discs. My latest stereo upgrade has been to my turntable, so if you have vinyl records you don't want anymore, let's talk. If you are in the market for a turntable, I have some suggestions. If you already run a turntable, ask me about vibration control. Have I got a tweak for you.
