Academic Information

I am a professor of educational leadership in the Department of Educational Studies in the College of Education at Purdue.  I teach courses focusing on technology and planning, as school administrators confront both of these domains.  I also teach and do work in the areas of school district and community relationships.  I believe that the great challenge of educators in the foreseeable future will be to provide leadership for education in and for increasingly diverse communities, and I am committed to helping our students prepare for that challenge.

I've been at Purdue since August of 1984. I came from Alabama (but with no banjo, regrettably), where I had worked as a secondary English teacher and middle school administrator for 17 years. It staggers me to think that I've now got over 20 years here. Where does it go?

I did my B.A. in English Literature at Vanderbilt, in 1967. I completed an M.A. in English Literature at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1975. I completed a Ph.D. in Educational Administration at the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa in 1985. So for all you Hoosiers and Boilermakers out there, don't talk to me about the Old Oaken Bucket until you've seen an Alabama - Auburn game.
