Degrees

Master's Degree

Non-Thesis Option: This program is intended to serve the needs of students who are committed to teaching, administrative, or professional positions requiring advanced training as well as those intending to pursue doctoral degrees. This degree requires a minimum of 30 credit hours beyond the bachelor's degree.

Thesis Option: Students who are planning to pursue a doctoral degree may consider this option. This degree requires a minimum of 24 credit hours beyond the bachelor's degree and 6 credit hours of thesis.

Educational Specialist Degree

This option leads to Indiana administrative certification as school superintendent.

All Educational Specialist degree programs required a minimum of 30 credit hours of course work, and a 3 credit hour field research project.

Doctoral Degree

Students at the doctoral level are prepared:

  •  to provide leadership in public schools, higher education, and education-related agencies
  •  to teach college courses in specialty areas of educational administration and social foundations of education
  •  to direct and participate in research on educational problems

Typically, the time required to complete a doctoral program is two to three years beyond the master's degree. The time is dependent upon the nature of the student's doctoral research. This degree requires a minimum of 60 credit hours beyond the master's degree.
