Message from the Department Head

Welcome to the Department of Educational Studies! We offer graduate programs in: Counseling Psychology (accredited by the American Psychological Association), Gifted Education, Cultural Foundations, Educational Leadership, Educational Psychology & Research Methodology, School Counseling (approved by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs), and Special Education. We also offer an undergraduate program in Special Education.

Our programs feature challenging curricula from a talented and supportive faculty. Our outstanding faculty conduct cutting-edge research on applied and scholarly topics such as:

  • Academic interventions for students with Attention Deficit Disorder
  • Race and ethnicity in gifted education
  • Math problem-solving strategies for students with learning problems
  • Critical pedagogy and the role of race and gender in education
  • Interpersonal attachment in long-distance relationships
  • Scientific literacy in young children
  • John Dewey, as the home of the Dewey Society journal, Education and Culture
