Doctoral Program

Purpose

The Ph.D. program prepares leadership personnel (through course work and directed experiences) for positions in research, teacher training, program development, supervision, and administration.

Program Focus

We offer training in research and teacher-training preparation that is initially diverse in methodological approaches, issues, and content. Initial diverse training in research prepares students for possible changes in questions, issues, populations, and methodological approaches that may be necessary in a candidate's own line of inquiry over the ensuing years.

Students later specialize in (a) methodologies that are single-subject or group designs, and (b) content interest areas in collaboration with their faculty mentors.

Program Method

The method, designed to ensure mastery of the competencies (currently in revision).

  • an intensive mentorship program with identified areas of interest
  • a series of integrated research activities attached to selected coursework
