Application Information

As you prepare your application, it is important that you understand the admission policies and procedures of the Department and the Graduate School. The review procedure for an applicant to a graduate degree program is a three-step process and approximately four months are required to process an application.

  1. After your complete application is received, it will be evaluated by the Counseling and Development program area. At this time further documentation of your academic background may be requested (e.g., for students who graduated from a foreign institution of higher education or from a non-accredited college or university in the United States). Those international students whose native language is not English must submit the results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
  2. It then will be evaluated by the Department of Educational Studies, then Graduate School of the University. Official notification of admission may only be issued by the Graduate School; no other information concerning the processing of your application may be considered official. Notification of admission from the Graduate School indicates that you may register for classes.

All students must submit recent test scores for the general test of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE).
