1. The Graduate School application form should be submitted as early as possible to ensure fullest consideration. Supporting documents, including three letters of recommendation, an official transcript of all previous college-level study, GRE scores, and the C&D Application Supplement (PDF), complete the application. The applicant is responsible for seeing that all materials have been received and that these show a comprehensive picture of achievements and potential for advanced study in the field of professional counseling. INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS ARE NOT REVIEWED. The following is the deadline for receiving complete applications:
Degree Sought Date of Initial Registration Application Deadline M.S. Summer or Fall Semester January 15 preceding entry
2. The decision to recommend admission or denial is based upon consideration of each applicant's complete materials. Admission to the individual programs is selective.
3. The admissions committee is composed of the faculty. Frequently, this committee will interview applicants to determine individual qualifications more adequately.
4. A minimum undergraduate point grade average (GPA) of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale from an accredited undergraduate college or university is required for unconditional admission to the master?s degree programs. The GRE Verbal and Quantitative Scores are expected to total not less than 1000. Occasionally, an applicant whose GPA is below the desired level but whose GRE scores are strong (and vise versa)may be admitted on a conditional basis. In these situations, it is probable that a personal interview with the committee will be required.
5. Approximately 8-10 students are admitted each year to the School Counseling program.
6. After an application has been approved for admission, the accepted student is expected to inform C&D faculty in writing by April 15 if they plan to enroll in the program.
7. Admission to a degree program does not guarantee financial aid or employment to support graduate study. Financial aid for students admitted to master's programs is limited but usually can be found through individual effort. Refer to the section on Financial Assistance.
