Liability Insurance

All students are required to obtain liability insurance prior to conducting ANY work with clients. This includes the field experiences as well as any other contact with students, including grant employment or course experiences through Purdue. Liability insurance is a free benefit of membership in the American School Counselor Association (ASCA). In addition, liability insurance is available through Purdue University Risk Management Office. All school counselors-in-training who have contact with students outside of required coursework must have liability insurance that covers these outside experiences. Currently, HPSO (through the American Counseling Association) provides coverage that includes these experiences for a reasonable cost.
