Completion of a bachelor's or master's degree in an area related to counseling psychology is a prerequisite for admission to the Counseling Psychology doctoral program. Please be aware that the Counseling Psychology program offers ONLY a doctoral degree. No master's degree is awarded at any point prior to the doctorate. Students who are unsure that they can or will complete a doctoral program should apply to a master's program or to a doctoral program that awards a master's degree as a part of the doctoral requirements. If you have any question, you can contact Dr. Heather Servaty-Seib, Training Director, at servaty@purdue.edu or at 765-494-0837.

December 15 is the deadline for full consideration for August admission. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. There are two stages to the admissions process.
1. The faculty meets shortly after the December 15 deadline to
review applications and to identify candidates for admission.
Screening is based on compatibility of applicant professional goals
with program training goals, academic achievement, work experience,
standardized test scores, and quality of references. Applicants who
are successful in being offered admission to the program:
2. The faculty expects students who are being considered for
admission to the program to attend an on-campus interview
to be scheduled early in February. Applicants are strongly
encouraged but not required to attend the on-campus interview.
Alternative interview arrangements can be made for students who are
unable to attend. Nonetheless applicants need to be aware that that
an alternate interview arrangement for persons in the U.S. may (not
will, but may) relatively disadvantage the student relative to the
faculty being able to determine fit with the program and its goals.
Admissions offers are made shortly after the on-campus interview.
Admission to the program is competitive. By voluntary agreement,
the Council of Graduate Programs of Psychology has set April 15 as
the deadline for students to accept or decline offers of admission.
