The academic progress of each student is reviewed at the end of the Spring semester each academic year. Student progress is evaluated according to the program's training model, goals and objectives, and expectations for professional training in psychology. See the Student Progress Checklist for brief, general expectations. Prior to the progress review, students complete the Ph.D. Progress Review Form which the faculty use during their evaluation. Students are informed in writing by their advisors of the status of their progress. In most cases, students receive a letter indicating that their progress has been satisfactory. In cases of unsatisfactory progress, action will be taken that is consistent with the counseling psychology program Policy on the Retention and Dismissal of Students and the Department of Educational Studies Dismissal Policy. Students are given the opportunity to improve areas of unsatisfactory performance.
