Department of Educational Studies Foundations Requirements

MASTER'S PROGRAM AND EDUCATIONAL SPECIALIST PROGRAM 
 
An Educational Studies master's degree and educational specialist degree shall include one (1) department foundation research course (2 credits).

DOCTORAL PROGRAM 
 
An Educational Studies doctoral degree shall have a minimum of one (1) advanced statistics course (3 credits), one (1) departmental advanced research methods course (3 credits), and two (2) advanced statistics courses and/or research methods courses (6 credits) in addition to the departmental foundation research course required for an Educational Studies master's degree and for an Educational Studies educational specialist degree.

  1. Advanced measurement courses will be considered as additional research methods courses in the third category.
  2. Advanced EDST research seminars (e.g., EDPS 63100, 63200, 63300, 66400) to meet the third category requirement will be considered upon graduate student petition by the Graduate and Curriculum Committee on a case by case basis.
  3. Other appropriate courses to meet the third category requirement will be considered upon graduate student petition by the Graduate and Curriculum committee on a case by case basis.
